Punto knitwear (often also called ponte , ponte di roma or punto di roma ) is a thicker, densely knitted knit fabric that is stretchy, holds its shape well, has very little wrinkling/non-wrinkling, is soft, but at the same time structured. It is completely opaque, and due to its firm texture, it does not highlight 'imperfections'.
It is knitted using the double knitting principle, which makes the fabric more stable and less "falling" than, for example, viscose jersey.
Punto is suitable for sewing dresses, trousers, jackets, skirts, and suits - the advantage of the fabric is that the garment looks very elegant, formal, and feels like sports or casual clothing.
